Hypogonadism in men is primarily a state involving lower than expected levels of testosterone, and traditionally this condition has been treated almost exclusively with testosterone supplementation. However, low testosterone can be fairly complex, involving a myriad of factors including the inability of the testes to produce sufficient testosterone, improper brain signaling, and excess estrogen.
In this presentation we will consider the following ways to increase and/or maintain testosterone levels within at least the mid-physiologic levels, while also keeping the androgen/estrogen relationship in mind:
1) Lifestyle changes
2) Reduce estrogen levels
3) Increase testicular output of testosterone
4) Testosterone supplementation
